Rounding Off Numbers

Rounding off to the nearest 10

If the digit in the ones place is 0,1,2,3 or 4(means less than 5)

Then the replace ones place by zero(0).

Example:- 

7,749,443 ➡️7,749,440

 

If the digit in the ones place is 5,6,7,8 or 9 (greater than 5 or equal to 5 but less than 10 ), than replace ones digit number by 0 or add 1 to the tens place.

Example:-

9,362,768➡️ 9,362,770 

 

Rounding off to the nearest 100

If the digit in the tens place is 0,1,2,3 or 4(less than 5)

Then replace ones place and tens place digit by zero(0).

Example:- 

 7,749,443 ➡️ 7,749,400

 

If the digit in the tens place is 5,6,7,8 or 9 (greater than 5 or equal to 5 but less than 10 ), than replace ones place and tens place digit number by 0 or add 1 to the hundreds place.

Example:-

9,362,768➡️ 9,362,800       

 

Rounding off to the nearest 1000

If the digit in the hundreds place is 0,1,2,3 or 4 (means less than 5)

Then the replace ones place, tens place or hundreds by zero(0).

Example:- 

7,749,443➡️7,749,000

 

If the digit in the hundreds place is 5,6,7,8 or 9 (greater than 5 or equal to 5 but less than 10 ), than replace ones place, tens place, hundreds place digit number by 0 or add 1 to the thousands place.

Example:-

9,362,768➡️9,363,000

 

Rounding off to the nearest 10,000

If the digit in the thousand place is 0,1,2,3 or 4 (means less than 5)

Then the replace ones place,tens place,hundreds place and thousand place by zero(0).

Example:- 

7,743,443➡️7,740,000

 

If the digit in the hundreds place is 5,6,7,8 or 9 (greater than 5 or equal to 5 but less than 10 ), than replace ones place, tens place, hundreds place and thousand place digit number by 0 or add 1 to the ten thousands place.

Rounding off to the nearest 1,00,000

If the digit in the thousand place is 0,1,2,3 or 4 (means less than 5)

Then the replace ones place,tens place,hundreds place, thousand place and tens thousand places by zero(0).
